How a Poet Looks at Politics

Let’s look at how a poet sees the name of Trump! You can’t trump Trump, right? WRONG!

Negative: TRUMP (biggest buffoon ever in office so far…you can’t trump Trump, right? Change one syllable and what do you get? Tramp).

Let’s look at some rhyming words:

CRUMP (explode heavily with a loud, dull noise or bombard with heavy shells…change one syllable and what do you get? Cramp).

SLUMP (noticeable deterioration), BUMP (an impact, as from a collision…don’t want to bump into Trump!).

CHUMP (a gullible person easily taken advantage of…change one syllable and what do you get? Chimp and Champ…is Trump the Champ of Chimps?).

DUMP (a derogatory term for defecation and, also a verb for unceremoniously throwing something or someone away…change one syllable and what do you get? Damp…all wet!).

FLUMP (fall heavily), FRUMP (a dull unpleasant girl or woman), GRUMP (a bad-tempered person…need I say more? Trump looks like a grumpy turtle.), THUMP (a heavy blow with the hand or a heavy sound).

LUMP (an abnormal compact mass or awkward, stupid person…change one syllable and what do you get? Limp…C’mon…he’s 73!), SCRUMP (something withered up and dried…now I am laughing).

Neutral: At least, as I see them.

CLUMP (a grouping of similar things, like a clump of Trump Strumps), GUMP (just a surname, I mean, who doesn’t like Forrest Gump? I’m related to Tom Hanks!), GLUMP (nonsensical word with no meaning), SCHLUMP (a train station in Hamburg, Germany), SUMP (both good and negative, making it neutral…either a well to collect water or a sewage flow leading into a cistern…also connected to oil reserves), STUMP (lots of definitions for this one…best one? Confusing and perplexing, as in “cut me down to size and I’ll still stump you!), THRUMP (repetitive sound of a thumping), whump (similar to thrump).

Positive: Not nearly as many.

HUMP (arch one’s back or have sexual intercourse…just not with Trump! Gross!) JUMP (act of jumping, as in over an obstacle such as Trump), PUMP (a shoe with heels for females to help them feel sexy, or a supply in great quantities, and to flow intermittently…change one syllable and what do you get? Pimp…well, that says a lot about Trump and his approach toward women), PLUMP (to make fat, or to give support to…I think Trump has been known to call plump women all sorts of derogatory terms…like fat pigs, Miss Piggy, fat slobs, etc., etc., has he considered they might have some metabolism issues they can’t help? I believe women can be “plump” and still be beautiful! Especially, if their character and spirits are beautiful and they aren’t just big bullies!)

Now, if a person puts any other words in front of these one-syllable words, it can change them from negative to positive, or back again, because it adds a little more information. Such as, gas pump, tree stump, Forrest Gump, etc.

Now let us look at Biden:

First, there are no single syllable words that rhyme with Biden! If he becomes the next President, it will be much harder to write derogatory poems about him. And, as a satirist and comedian, that is one of my favorite pastimes!

Here are the rhyming words:

aidin, briden, bride in, bryden, caer eiddyn, cried in, died in, dried in, dryden, eiden, fried in, gliadin, gliden, guide in, guidon, haydn, heiden, hide in, hyden, iden, leiden, leyden, liden, lied in, lyden, meidan, meiden, midan, pride in, riden, ride in, ryden, scheiden, schleiden, schneiden, seiden, side in, sidon, sighed in, slide in, tide in, tied in, tried in, weiden, widen, wide in, wyden

abide in, applied in, aside in, confide in, decide in, denied in, divide in, implied in, jividen, poseidon, provide in, replied in, reside in, subhyoidean, supplied in

coincide in, joseph haydn, manawydan, taxaspidean, unterscheiden

So, I always enjoy a challenge!
